As part of a DBS check, the applicant must complete the ID checking stage before the application is forwarded onto ourselves. In order to complete the ID checking stage the applicant must show the employer the correct relevant documents in order to satisfy one of the three ID checking routes. Below is the full list of accepted documents for DBS checks and the 3 available routes for ID checking. The documents required will depend upon the route selected for ID checking. The applicant must try to provide documents from Route 1 first.

ID checking routes

Route 1

The applicant must be able to show:

  • one document from Group 1
  • 2 further documents from either Group 1, or Group 2a or 2b

At least one of the documents must show the applicant’s current address.

Route 2

If the applicant doesn’t have any of the documents in Group 1, then they must be able to show:

  • one document from Group 2a
  • 2 further documents from either Group 2a or 2b

At least one of the documents must show the applicant’s current address. An external ID validation will then be conducted by ourselves as part of Route 2.

Route 3
